The survival rate in kidnapping is high. The greatest risk is during or just after the abduction when the hostage could be wounded or killed. Thereafter, the hostage’s general health will also have a bearing on their survival. In most cases, where the kidnappers regard the hostage as part of a transaction, they will want to ensure the hostage survives the kidnap, so the risks of death are low.
