Type of people who are kidnapped
Contrary to public perception, the vast majority of people kidnapped are local nationals taken in their home country.
We share our in-depth knowledge and learning with governments and employers to improve understanding around the plight of hostages’ families and returning hostages.
Our advocacy work involves discreet collaboration with law or policy-making bodies by providing constructive input to encourage consideration for the position of families affected by hostage-taking. In some situations, we may speak up on behalf of our families, or former hostages, in a public forum.
We do not campaign or provide assistance aimed at bringing a hostage back home. Our role is to make the situation slightly more bearable for those affected by hostage situations and to increase understanding around these complex and distressing situations.
