We urge media and the public to give returning hostages privacy

We urge media and the public to give returning hostages privacy

Hostage International is always delighted to hear of the release of hostages and we sincerely hope that families will be given privacy, space, and time to be with their loved ones.

As a charity that supports the families of hostages and detainees when a loved one is taken, and hostages and detainees after their release, we understand just what an incredibly emotional and exciting time this is for families.

Any returning hostage – and their families – face a huge adjustment. Our main advice would be to take each day at a time, give space for the returning hostage and allow their loved ones privacy.

We would urge the media and others to respect this and to give them the chance to be together in peace.

Hostage International’s support is provided in strict confidence so we would never comment on our support around a specific case. To those who approach us, we provide essential emotional and practical support.
